Rural Water Challenges: Small Hydropower (Austria – China)

Participants from China and Europe succeeded to launch the Co-Lead Partnership on Small Hydropower at the CEWP Inception Workshop in Beijing and to fill it with concrete cooperation activities.

Existing small hydropower and its optimisation takes an important role as well as future development towards identified potentials is aimed for in both China and Europe.

The group of participating organisation discussed shared challenges regarding small hydropower at the CEWP inception workshop and based proposals for future cooperation on these. Future joint activities aim to focus on the establishment of a joint cooperation basis towards optimisation of small hydropower and the identification of effective measures to prevent negative adverse impacts on the environment.

The Co-Lead Partnership will seek jointly for funding opportunities that also include shared contributions from both sides.
